Australian Music Examinations Board
The Australian Music Examinations Board (AMEB) Queensland provides syllabuses, examinations, publications and online courses in:
- practice of music
- music theory
- music teaching
- speech and drama
- contemporary popular music.
AMEB Queensland provides a standardised grading system for theoretical and practical exams in music, speech and drama.
Your AMEB qualifications 7th grade and above may also be recognised by the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) for rankings for entry to some Queensland tertiary courses. Contact QTAC on (07) 3858 1222 for more information.

Enrolling for exams and fees
The AMEB Queensland website has information about how to purchase and enrol for exams and the fees involved. Teachers and parents are able to enrol and pay for examinations online through the AMEB Queensland shop.
To enrol candidates online, you must be registered as an enroller in the AMEB Queensland shop.
AMEB Queensland will contact you, usually at least 3 weeks prior to your examination, to let you know what date and time your exam will be.

Publications
Syllabuses, grade books and other support publications are available for purchase from the AMEB Queensland shop.
Complaints and appeals
AMEB Queensland aims to be fair and equitable in all its dealings. It has procedures for addressing issues or concerns raised by AMEB Queensland clients. All complaints and appeals will be investigated, with an attempt to resolve them to the satisfaction of all parties concerned.
An objection against the examination result can only be based on one or both of:
- Improper or irregular action or negligence in the conduct of the examination involving a breach of AMEB Regulations and/or syllabus requirements.
- Direct or indirect discrimination on grounds stipulated in Section 7 (1) Anti-Discrimination Act 1991.
